At 00:30 14-08-08 Beverly Cordell passed from this existance. I dedicate the next few strips to her memory. She had said several times to me that many of mans greatest achivements were also it’s greatest failures. and thus I will be doing a set of comics entitled Man’s greatest failures. the first of which will be posted soon, and was told to her the last time she made the comment to me. I hope you find them funny.
Ok first I would like to say thank you to everyone who reads my comic. But tonight there will be no funny, and there may not be any more this week. In April my great aunt was diagnosed with cancer. She looked great at the time, and it didn’t seem to be serious. However, the doctors were not able to tell where the cancer began, nor what kind it was. she has a very rapid decline in the last two weeks, she has had atleast one heart attack and one stroke. Today she fell hitting her shoulder and her head. She has lost all ability to communicate.
Maybe I should explain a little bit about her. She is my mom’s aunt. She was a Great teacher. She has taught in DoD schools all over the world, as well as all over the US. She was a great painter, very very sharp mentally, and thought that anyone could do anything, if they worked at it. She encouraged me to do what I felt I should, and found most of my jokes funny.
I have no more words now. Good night, hopefully I will be able to find my funny again soon.
Todays comic is based on a sight I had less than two hours ago. A cloud, slightly day in the sunset sky was a sight which deffies my attempts to put words to it. I stood in the middle of a shopping center parking lot for no less than twenty minutes watching as the cloud rolled by, lightening flashing from one section to another. I sit here trying to describe how it looked and the simple strokes I have made do it very little justice, but the colors and patterns, the subtlty, the greatness of this sight is one that will burn in my mind for a long time.
Ok so Barry from Inktank.com is holding a contest for fan art, from well his fans, I think. Anyway, as I have been reading Barry’s work since september of 2000, I figured I should throw something together. I have to say that some of the characters that I did ended up being the best things I have ever drawn. Thus I owe Barry two thanks, one for turning me on to web comics, back when I was a freshman on college, and now a second for forcing me to improve by drawing some of my favorite characters on the net.
about four years ago Barry, of Inktank.com, did a comic and well I was in the local supermarket when the song came on, I was in line, there were like 20 people around me, when I started singing the lyrics wrong. it was very very funny to me how people looked. so if you don’t get todays comic I blame Barry!!!
